Pedal the Pacific 2019. We are so excited that you are here.


Hello! We are stoked that you’re interested in being a part of the third year of Pedal the Pacific and using your voice to fight for some of the most vulnerable children in our country. We know that sex trafficking is such a complex, overwhelming issue and many of us fall prey to believing that our voice is too small to make any kind of difference. Well, Pedal the Pacific exists to prove that wrong.

The 14 of us who have completed this journey before you believe it to be completely life-changing and quite possibly the most rewarding experience of our lives, which is why we are so excited to see Pedal the Pacific continue on. With that, please be aware that this trip is not only physically demanding but will also require a lot of your time and energy to successfully prepare - about as much as a part time job. PTP is a self-supported ride, so you will be camping every night and carrying nearly 40 pounds of gear on your bike while cycling 1,700 HILLY miles so we want to be sure you have the time to train.

  • Must be a sophomore through senior in college by the time of application

  • Must be available for the entirety of June 6 - July 22, 2019

  • Must be available to travel to Austin, Texas for the team retreat in November

  • Cannot study abroad Spring 2019


  • Individual fundraising goal: $5,000 by finish line in San Diego

  • Amount to be raised before June 8 (launch day): $1,500
    • We will equip you with the tools you need to fundraise successfully, but if you do not raise the minimum goal by the end of the ride, you will be required to make up the difference.
  • Personal cost

    • You will be required to provide all personal gear needed to complete the trip. Once chosen as a part of the 2019 team, we will provide you with a list of needed gear. This includes but is not limited to:

      • All clothing except jerseys: bike shorts, socks, mountain bike shoes

      • Bike gear: cell phone holder, saddle bag, handlebar bag, flat tire repair kit, touring tires, bike lights

      • Camping gear: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, utensils, headlamps

      • Etc: flights to Seattle and from San Diego 

    • Each team member is required to purchase the graciously-donated All-City team bike for $1,000 during the team retreat in November.

*please note: this is the third year of Pedal the Pacific and it is still a work in progress. We are constantly working on and hoping to get gear sponsored and donated, so we have high hopes that some of your personal cost will be covered by donations!
